Diversity Lesson 101: LGBT/Queer Little People [Dec. 23rd, 2008|12:41 pm]
SoCal Sexuality

Little People like LGBT people are considered "freaks of nature", they get stares and people misunderstand them. In looking for resources for Little LGBT People, I found virtually nothing. I decided, to make an entry to educate people about little people as well as provide as much info as I can for LGBT Little People. It is my sincere hope that LGBT Little People can find solace, comfort and community and that they can begin to network and build a foundation and support system for their own sub-section of the community.

California - Vote NO on Prop 8! [Oct. 15th, 2008|04:15 pm]
SoCal Sexuality

This November 4th your vote has the power to influence millions of lives. The California supreme court legalized marriage for gay/lesbian couples effectively giving them access to hundreds of rights such as the right to file joint taxes, and visit a loved one in the hospital. Now extremists want to take that right away under the guise that they are protecting marriage. From who? Straight couples are not affected by loving gay couples having the right to commit to one another. Let us not put hate into the constitution and vote on the right side of history. Regardless of your opinion on the issue, please vote for basic fairness and providing 1,049 rights and benefits to same-sex couples.

Check out the link and video below for more info on how you can get involved in fighting proposition 8!

What were some of the hiccups... [Jul. 12th, 2008|09:28 am]
SoCal Sexuality

Other people have come across when opening (or re-opening) their relationships?

When G and I first started dating we were steadfastly "open" then over time evolved into swinging "together-only" for 2 1/2 years, but that didn't fill my need for the type of partners I'm attracted to as leather lesbian and trans-gen F-M tend not to be attracted to men... Beyond even that though, I'm also at a place in my life where I'm wanting solo playtime.

To scratch that itch we tested out "hall passes", which were fine, but don't fill my community or deeper needs so we are now in the bigging stages of trying to open fully again.

Yes, it's pretty clear, I am looking to open us so I can connect with the lesbian community and find a place there. G is more into the sex for the sake of sex. Neither of these is bad, but it's nice to know that he can get his play one place and I can get my community elsewhere. Obviously our communication has been ongoing and extensive.... Given our mix of worlds, any advice for pitfalls to watch out for?

Name: Sal
male/female/trans?: female
Gay or bi?: I always have trouble with this question.  I'm gay.  I'm a lesbian.  Thats what I'd like to label myself, because I don't want to be called a fence sitter.  People who call themselves bi catch a lot of flack from 'legitimate' lesbians.  I'm a gay girl with a boyfriend though, so what does that really make me? To hell with this labeling buisness.  I'm just a girl.
Age: 18
Single or taken?: taken
Interests: art, literature, coffee shops, pretty girls, horses, firefly, love, sex, conversation, and a good story.

I just moved to LA, and although I am in an amazing straight relationship, I'm looking to meet fun people out here.  I need someone to take me on a tour of my new home, and to make some new friends.

Also, my boyfriend and I have been discussing pursuing an open relationship - I know the risks involved there; jealousy and weirdness, not to mention possible scary STDs and crap if one isn't careful, but I'd like to hear from someone for whom this has worked, because i know that it has worked for some couples.  Any thoughts?
